Getting close

Things are so busy at the new house with painters, electricians, fence builders, and sewer drain people all working today.

The day started with a range delivery at 7:30 am, and as the delivery truck pulled out, it hit the stone wall by the driveway that had been fixed not 72 hours prior. Hopefully Home Depot follows through with repairing this.

The floors in Spencer's room had their final buff and look beautiful.

The office is now painted, and all the plastic has come down since I took this picture.

Living room painting is mostly done. I'll get a picture of the wall color tonight.

The carpet on the stairs was installed yesterday.

The kitchen walls and trim have also been painted, but it doesn't show up well in pictures.

The electrical panel in the basement has been totally updated, and there's a new window next to it. Here is the "before" picture.

And here is the "after" picture. It's much cleaner now.

And we discovered water sitting in the basement Monday night, so Rescue Rooter came out today to clear the drain...which was unsuccessful. This will be a project for another day that will likely involve a jackhammer....at some point in the future but not today or before we move in.

The wallpaperer refused to hang the grass cloth wallpaper when she arrived today, claiming the adhesive would affect the stain on the paper, so no good progress there to share.

Hopefully I'll have pictures of a new fence and range soon! Tomorrow is some finishing touches and cleaning. There will still be things like light fixtures and wallpaper that will happen after we move in next Tuesday!

T minus eight days

Moving day will be here soon. The end of the pre-move-in renovations is in sight, but it's going to be a busy week at Ridgewood to get everything ready.

The cabinet panel is on the fridge now.

And the walls and trim are being painted in the kitchen. Windows with divided glass are so pretty, but it sure is a lot of prep work for painting.

The painters are having so much trouble with the wood trim upstairs and paint peeling off that they decided to sand the office walls down to the bare wood. For a moment, I thought about staining it instead of painting it!

But it's not the prettiest wood so we're going ahead with painting it. The walls have been primed and will get painted tomorrow.

.Now we just need some new light fixtures because these are pretty dated. That can wait till we move in though.

Lots of finishing touches for this week including a fence, installing a range, new office doors, more painting, and then lots of cleaning.

Pillar, painting, and staining oh my

The limestone pillar for the fence is in place now.

Next week, a wood fence is scheduled to be installed around part of the back yard to enclose it (the rest of the back yard is already fenced).

Painting in Spencer's room is complete.

The bottom cabinets still need doors installed on them, but this room is essentially ready for curtains.

The master bedroom trim was sanded for a second time, the bottom half of the walls were sanded, and it was all re-painted.

The master closet cabinets are getting installed and painted this week too.

The balusters - if that term applies when the parts are metal - are off getting painted while the handrails and treads are getting stained.

The living room floor had 88 large nail and screw holes that were filled, first with wood filler, but that didn't take the stain well, so the filler was scooped out, and the holes were filled with wooden discs that were then sanded and stained. So...much...work...

And in the kitchen, all the trim is in and the appliances - that we have - are installed, though the fridge still needs the panels installed. All the faucets and garbage disposal are installed. Hopefully our new range arrives before we move!

Next week is the last week of work before we move in. More painting and some basement electrical work are scheduled, and then it's time to clean.
