More on floors

The entry way and first floor hallway floors are finished now. Both of these areas used to be red tile, like in this picture:

And here it is once the travertine was in. Most of the trim is installed now too.

Upstairs, the banister had to be disassembled and repaired. While it was off, the floors were stained.

And now the upstairs hallway floors are covered up to protect them, and the banister is back in place.

Bedrooms have also been stained and will get one last buff once all the painting is done.

Recall what Spencer's room looked like before we started:

And when the carpet was removed, a two-toned stain job was found.

So we had to have it sanded down and redone.

Also, a mason is building a stone pillar for a fence around the backyard. We're using the same limestone as the exterior of the house, and the pillar will be in the sandy spot to the left of the stairs.

Next week, painters will be redoing upstairs trim (it's peeling off), and the electrician and plumber will be there doing more electrical work and installing appliances.

Lots of visual progress

This week, steady progress was made on the rest of the travertine floors, sanding the wood floors in the bedrooms, and with installing kitchen cabinets and counter tops.

Newly sanded guest bedroom:

And Spencer's room:

And the master:

By the end of Monday, a lot of the cabinets were in.

By mid-week, the quartz counter tops were in. They remind me of ripples in the sand from the ocean.

And by Friday, the finishing touches for cabinets were done.

Espresso machine, toaster, and blender will go in here.

What a change from a few months ago!
